We stock a wide range of smocks in our shop. All come from our local 'Smock Shop', a Cornish based company, on the other side of the water!
Established in 1976, the Smock Shop started out by hand cutting and supplying one local shop. Now they regularly attend Southampton and London boat shows and Maritime festivals all over the U.K. They have an extensive range and we cannot stock all of it, but if you cannot find what you are looking for we can always order what ever you want. Our smocks all feature the Weir Quay Boatyard logo and come in variety of sizes for ladies and gents.
In Cornwall smocks are also known as barkies, duck frocks or slops. Smocks are now popular with everyone from artists to gardeners. Why not try one yourself?
Smocks were originally made from the leftover cotton from sail making but are now made from 100% cotton drill. Practical and durable they keep out the wind and keep you warm without having to pile on the layers. We stock the standard cotton drill smocks in a variety of colour and also have a new and exciting natural canvas smock. These are beautiful and quite hard to come by. We also stock Guernsey style jumpers made from 100% English oiled wool. This wool makes them more tolerant to water and keeps the wind out. They have side slits and flat knited hems. They are available in Navy or Cream.
We also stock heavy weight smocks made from Bull Denim, thicker than the standard drill and has a soft slightly brushed effect.
We have a variety of other interesting clothing in our shop including polo shirts and deck shoes. Why not pop in and take look?
