Allen Jewitt
From time to time every boatyard needs extra labour and we are lucky enough to have some character-full experience to draw on.
Allen Jewitt - salmon fisherman (retired), eel catcher and alligator hunter - has always lived and worked on the Tamar River and, should you care to ask him, he will tell you everything there is to know about its ways.
It is with huge regret we have to announce that Allen died suddenly on 12th January, 2012. His presence on the River is irreplacable and we miss him so much.
We recieved so many lovely tributes to Allen and wanted to share them.
Johnnie Hall was brought up on the river about the Merganza - now sawn in half upstream of the Yard. He helped Brian Tankard and others build the Yard in the 1970s and 80s.
